About Sophie's Cleaners

Our history

With 35 years of experience caring for garments, Sophie's Cleaners has grown into a trusted neighborhood presence across Westchester and Upper Manhattan — now three stores, with the same hands-on care behind every one of them. From the beginning we made two commitments to our customers: do the work right, and do it in a way that's safer for them and their clothes. That's why every garment that comes through us is processed with our plant-based dry cleaning method — gentle on fabrics, free of harsh chemicals, and tough enough on stains to handle the kind of messes that have been sent our way over the decades. Customers are always free to choose the soap they prefer for their laundry, and our dry cleaning uses eco-friendly solvents throughout.

Today you can find us at our Scarsdale store on Garth Road, our Ardsley location on Saw Mill River Road, and our Washington Heights shop on West 181st Street — three neighborhoods, one standard of care.

Family-run

Sophie's Cleaners is a family-owned business, and that shows up in how every store is run day to day. There are no anonymous counters here — the same people who greet you at the door are the ones pressing your shirts, handling your tailoring, and getting your alterations back to you on time.

Behind every garment we clean is a great team that's happy to care for your clothes. Pickup and delivery, walk-in service, tailoring, and rush orders all flow through the same family-run operation, and we treat every order like it's our own.
